Current sodium-ion batteries achieve 120–160 Wh/kg, slightly below LiFePO4 (140–180 Wh/kg) but sufficient for applications where cost, safety, and temperature resilience outweigh peak energy density needs. Ongoing R&D aims to close this gap within 2–3 years.

Cold-climate applications due to excellent low-temperature performance.
Commercial sodium-ion batteries deliver 3,000–5,000 cycles at 80% Depth of Discharge (DoD), comparable to mid-tier LiFePO4. Degradation is gradual, with capacity retention >80% after 3,000 cycles.
